Going out

What a walk !

Yesterday I went out for a walk. Serious walk ! I didn't realize how hot it was until I got on a cab and the cab driver told me that it was 43C (109F)outside....and I was walking outside! I guess you get used to the heat, but man it was hot, and thats not the hottest it gets, it sometimes hits 50C (122F) ! Luckily the Summer is over.

I got in touch with the Dominican Embassy just for the hell of it, and I'm glad I did. I went by and they were super nice. I got to talk to them and even met the Ambassador. You can tell they don't get too many Dominicans here, actually including both Made and me, thats 40 and total....and I wasn't even born in DR!

I do have to admit that its hard leaving the hotel. I mean, I dont usually stay in 5 star hotels specially with the view I get here, so I've definitely been slacking, but its ok, we got plenty of time to go check out the city.

By the way have you guys heard of this famous Abu Dhabi building?

If you look close in this pic you can see it. This is our view from our living room:

We Here !

man, where do I start?

Well, there was the crazy move, storing, etc. Oh by the way, if your moving? yeah, you want professional movers.  Those guys are NO JOKE. They were taking our stuff down those steps like it was nothing. One of the guys took and entire dresser on his back and brought it down the steps like he was carrying a garbage bag on his pack.  NO JOKE !

Then there were a couple of farewell hangouts, of course couldn't meet up with everybody to say goodbye, which sucked, but hey, well be back soon!

So we got on the plane Bussiness Class Upgrade!  Which might not be such a big deal in some cases, but yo, when youre taking a 13 hour flight?  yes! you WANT THAT UPGRADE.

We where able to lay back on the seat. In fact you get this whole pod-like thing and its pretty amazing. I mean, I generally can't sleep on a plane and I slept like 7 hours !

Oh and the food? oh man! they stuffed us with pretty amazing food. I got this Chicken Tagine, and it was amazing, drinks, etc it was just great.

So we got to Abu Dhabi at around 8pm. First impression? "man, its effing hot ! I thought summer was over! Yes, it was a sweet 98F at 8pm! The only thing worst than the weather was seeing some girl jogging in the streets.  She wasnt just jogging at 98F weather...no, she was jogging at 98F weather and she was wearing SWEATPANTS ! ..yes SWEATPANTS! Was still nice to see how safe it is here unlike other countries in the Middle East, where an obvious ex-pat (prob European/ American, etc) can jog down the streets at night.

Hotel is amazing by the way.

So far its been cool. When to the mall today, and the supermarket.

There was food there from everywhere in the world, and very affordable. I will be hitting that spot often.  Oh! and the mall?  Well, you know its a mall, a huge mall, with lots of people, and just overall what it is, a mall; and they have an Ice Skating rink, i know, weird, but the kids love it.

Anyway,  time to pretend sleep, yes, I thought I had beat jet-lag, negative ! 1:30 am and I feel like its 5:30pm.

peace!

Embassy

So I just finished registering with the US Dept of State.
Basically you out your info, and passport number, and I guess they get a head count in case of an emergency.
You know, like an evacuation.....makes me think of so many 80's movies, kinda crazy.

I'm also writing this in the living room as I am surrounded by boxes, and my wife just finished saying " we didn't name the boxes, were gonna suffer unpacking these things when we get back."

She's right.
